Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup raisins golden or dark raisins work best
  • 1/2 cup dark rum spiced rum can be used for added depth
  • 2 cups heavy cream for dessert or cocktail
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch of cinnamon optional, for a warm undertone

  • chopped nuts walnuts or pecans for texture

  • milk or coconut milk if creating a cocktail variation

Instructions
 

  • Place the raisins in a small bowl or jar and pour dark rum over them.
  • Cover and let sit for at least 24 hours for full absorption. If short on time, soak for at least 4 hours.
  • For a dessert base: Heat heavy cream over medium heat in a saucepan.
  • Add sugar and vanilla extract, stirring until dissolved.
  • Mix in the soaked raisins along with any remaining rum.
  • For a frozen dessert: Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn for 20-30 minutes. Freeze for at least 4 hours before serving.
  • For a warm dessert: Pour into a baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30-40 minutes.
  • For a cocktail: Blend milk or coconut milk with a splash of vanilla and ice. Add rum-soaked raisins and some infused rum.
  • Serve the dessert with caramel drizzle and nuts, or garnish the cocktail with nutmeg and a rum-soaked raisin.

Notes

For deeper flavor, soak raisins as long as possible. Use high-quality dark rum for the best taste. Experiment with different desserts, drinks, and toppings!
