  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder unsweetened
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • a pinch salt

Optional Add-ins

  • 1 tbsp chocolate chips or chunks
  • 1 tsp chopped nuts walnuts, pecans, or almonds

Instructions
 

  • In a microwave-safe mug or bowl, melt the butter for 20-30 seconds.
  • Stir in sugar, cocoa powder, and salt until well combined.
  • Add the egg yolk, milk, and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth.
  • Mix in the flour until the batter is fully incorporated.
  • Stir in optional add-ins like chocolate chips or nuts, if desired.
  • Microwave for 40-60 seconds, checking at 40 seconds. The brownie should be set but slightly soft in the center.
  • Let cool for a minute before enjoying!

Notes

For a fudgier brownie, reduce the cooking time slightly. For a cake-like texture, add an extra teaspoon of flour.
